So 2015 is coming to an end and 2016 is right around the corner. I’m sure everyone has a lot in their minds about what you have done this year and what to plan for next year. Chic+Nawdie and I have had an incredibly eventful year. I quit my full time job as a graphic designer in June to focus on Chic+Nawdie. Up until that point, Chic+Nawdie was just a fun personal project. I knew nothing about running a business and about the stationery industry. Quitting my job felt like a big risk but an essential move for me to figure out what I want to do.
In only 6 months from June until now, it felt like a much longer time because so many things have happened. We had our first craft fair in Brooklyn, which was such an exciting rewarding experience. I remember we only had about 20 card designs then. After that I spent the summer creating more than 30 new designs in order to get us ready for wholesale. We got our first wholesale order in August and it was one of the happiest day of my life! We ended the summer with another craft fair and since then have had a few more retailers working with us. In the fall we visited Japan for the first time, which was an incredible and meaningful trip to us. We had a little pop-up shop in our hometown Hanoi and got featured in The Paper Chronicles and T-pot Journal.
I’m sitting here feeling really fortunate to have my husband support me greatly and to meet amazing friends along the way. I guess I can say goodbye to 2015 without any regrets. Chic+Nawdie and I have a lot more goals for 2016 and hopefully this time next year I can say the same thing.
Happy New Year everyone and thank you for supporting Chic+Nawdie!
