3 Easy Halloween Costumes To Also Wear Everyday – Iconic Female Artists Edition

Hello!

In the last post, I introduced 3 Halloween Costumes inspired by 3 female characters in Studio Ghibli’s work. This post brings you another 3 bold and powerful ladies to get inspired this Halloween season. This is the iconic female artists edition! These three women come from three different cultures but they all inspire me tremendously: their works, their passion, their deep sense of independence and their unique styles! Like the previous post, I’m introducing items that can build a Halloween outfit but also can be worn everyday. As you can tell once you scroll down to the list, I had way too much fun with this project! I hope everyone finds this helpful and let me know what you think.

Love,

Nhung

I. Yayo Kusama

An iconic artist who worked across a wide range of media, a strong voice of pop art, minimalist and feminist art movements and one of the most important living artists, Yayoi Kusama is probably most known for her use of patterns of polka dots installations. Dressing up as Yayoi Kusami for Halloween would scream out “BOLD & FUN”! Pick an outfit in bright color polka dots, add a red wig bob and a cool pair of circle shades and you’re good to go!

II. Georgia O’Keeffe

Georgia O’Keefee is one of my favorite artists. Her paintings, her house and studio in New Mexico and also her effortless style are incredibly beautiful and inspiring. I would love to dress up as O’Keeffe for every single day of my life if I could! White button-down shirt, black jacket or blazer, long black skirts or wide leg pants, black leather shoes and of course that black felt hat. Minimal yet so powerful and elegant! And we probably already own a few items in our closet – yes!

III. Frida Kahlo

The Mexican painter is well known for her bold self-portraits, her independence and rebellion against social and moral standards, her physical sufferings throughout her life as well as her marriage to Diego Rivera and her relationships with other lovers of both men and women. Recently Frida has even reached a celebrity-like cult status. Frida Kahlo’s bold and complex personalities are somehow indicated in her unique fashion sense also.  She has inspired and influenced not only younger artists but also several fashion designers. Bright and deep colors, lots of prints, floral crowns, bold jewelry. And who else can make uni-brown as trendy as she does? These items will brighten up your closet as if spring has suddenly appeared… Don’t forget the makeup, here are some tutorials I found. Have fun!
